Free and proteic amino acids from carbon 14 labeled metabolism in detached leaves of coffee coffea arabica cultivar mundo novo

Detached leaves were incubated with acetate-1-14C and -2-14C for several times (15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 min), in the dark. The ethanol 80% soluble fraction yielded free amino acids after ion exchange chromatography. The insoluble fraction through acid hydrolysis furnished proteic amino acids. The acetate molecules contributed to the amino acids molecular structure, methylic carbon was incorporated more than carboxylic carbon.
