Further research on the germination of cercis siliquastrum effect of gibberellic acid and role of endosperm in dormancy

In order to identify the cause of dormancy in Cercis siliquastrum L., research was carried out on non-scarified seeds without integument, as well as on isolated embryos. GA can mimic cold treatment in interrupting seed dormancy. The inhibition is not located in the integument. [The endosperm, however, does play a determinant role in the inhibitory process.] Histological investigations are being carried out to study better the possible occurrence of a mechanical restraint imposed by the albumen on the non-dormant embryo.
