Galega galega officinalis a very dangerous leguminous plant for sheep

The collective poisoning of 29 sheep who had ingested G. officinalis was described, and intoxications due to this plant since 1887 were reviewed. The various uses of the plant and its botanical and histological characteristics, which made it recognizable even in fragments collected from the rumen, were described.
