Gene action for ten quantitative characters in diploid cotton gossypium herbaceum and gossypium arboreum

Gene action for ten quantitative characters in diploid cotton gossypium herbaceum and gossypium arboreum

Mysore Journal of Agricultural Sciences 19(3): 159-161

A general method of detecting the epistatic variation for metric traits was followed using the 20 F1s, two females of G. arboreum L. and ten male parents of G. herbaceum L. The presence of epistatic variation was detected in respect of seed index and lint index. The additive (D) component of variation was found to be significant for days to 50 per cent boll opening yield of seed coton, number of bolls/plant and seed index. For other characters namely, node number, lint index and ginning out-turn, dominance (H1) component was significant.
