Inheritance of yield and its components was studied from F1, F2, F3 and parental generation means of six crosses in linseed. Both additive and dominance effects were significant and important in the expression of days to maturity and plant height in T.397 .times. T.477 and days to maturity in T.397 .times. NP(RR)9. Substantial additive gene effects were observed for all characters with the exception of days to flower initiation and days to maturity in T. 397 .times. Afg.8. Implications of gene effects in relation to genetic improvement of yield in linseed have been discussed.
