Genetic and environmental variability in sunflower helianthus annuus l

Bangladesh Journal of Agriculture 13(1): 11-16

A field experiment with forty-two cultivars of sunflower was conducted in Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute at Gazipur [Bangladesh]. Data were taken to estimate component of variance, genotypic and phenotypic coefficient of variation, heritability and genetic gain. High G.C.V. was observed for yield per plant, five hundred seed weight, and weight of head. Heritability (broad sense) was high for the above characters and plant height. Genetic advance was more for yield per plant, green weight of head and plant height.
