Homoeotic transformation of legs and halters was studied in simple Polycomb (Pct and Pcc) and bithorax (4bx, bx34e, Ubx) stocks and in pairwise combined Pc.sbd.bx stocks. Pc-induced homoeotic transfo-mation of mid and hind legs into those of fore-leg type was better expressed in the presence of any of the mutant bithorax alleles studied. Only irregular, though statistically significant deviations were observed in bithorax induced meta.sbd.to mesothorax transformations in Pc.sbd.bx, as compared to bx stocks.
