Genetic studies of children with neural tube defect iii. segregation linkage analysis of neural tube defects and the hla system

Genetic studies of children with neural tube defect iii. segregation linkage analysis of neural tube defects and the hla system

Pediatria Polska 62(3): 156-160

Using an own method of segregation-linkage analysis the authors carried out a study of 46 families with neural tube defects occurring in fetuses. The HLA genotyeps were determined in these families. Analysing the agreement of the HLA haplotypes in pairs of siblings and the dominance and value of the recombination fraction between the loci of the HLA system and the main locus of the gene determining the occurrence of neural tube defect the model of disease inheritance and the degree of linkage were established. The obtained results were insufficient for an unequivocal choice of the best hypothesis of inheritance of for reaching conclusions as to the presence or absence of linkage of the pathological gene and the HLA genes. The estimated recombination fraction 0.158 for the model of summating inheritance cannot be regarded as an evidence of this linkage.
