Genetic variability and inheritance of plant height involving different genotypes of wheat triticum aestivum

Inheritance of plant height in wheat (T. aestivum L.) was studied, using single-plant measurements from parental, F1, F2, BC1 [backcross] and BC2 generations of crosses among 'B 20' and 'Nobre' (normal-height), 'PF 70553' and 'IAS 55' (medium types) and 'NS 1406', 'Cajeme 71' and 'Yugoslavia 715/70' (semidwarf). All crosses among tall genotypes vs. semidwarf showed partial or complete dominance from high types. Additive and dominance gene effects were of great importance; epistasis was not. Three loci were involved in height inheritance among the 7 cultivars. The suggested genetic constitutions for the cultivars were: 'Nobre' = aaBBDD, 'B 20' = AAbbDD, 'PF 70553' = a'a'bbDD, 'IAS 55' = AAbbdd, 'NS 1406' = a'a'bbdde, 'Cajeme 71' = aabbdd, 'Yugoslavia 715/70' = a"a"bbdd.
