Growth and yield responses of soybean glycine max cultivar clark 63 to foliar nutrition with molybdenum and copper under different levels of nitrogen fertilizer

Two pot experiments were carried out to investigate the effect of foliar nutrition with 5 .times. 102 ppm CuSO4, 103 ppm (NH4)2MoO4 or their mixture on 'Clark-63' grown under 40 or 60 kg N/feddan. Foliar nutrition with Cu, Mo or Cu + Mo enhanced dry matter accumulation, the photosynthetic pigment content and root nodule formation. The Cu + Mo treatment was more effective than separate treatments, especially at 60 kg N/feddan. Stability of chlorophyll and N content in the leaves was increased by Mo or Mo + Cu treatments at 40 kg N/feddan or all spray treatments at 60 kg N/feddan. The yield and crude protein content in the seeds were increased by foliar spraying with Mo or Cu and to a greater extent with Mo + Cu, especially at high N levels.
