Growth yield and nutrient distribution responses of pea plants to micronutrient foliar application related to phosphorus fertilization

Two field experiments were carried out on sandy loam to study the effect of different phosphatic fertilization levels and foliar spray with chelated micronutrients on the growth, yield and nutrient content of pea plants [Pisum sativum]. Growth and yield parameters were significantly increased by increasing P2O5 levels. Plant dry weight, dry weight of 100 seeds, and total yield were significantly increased by foliar spray, while, No. of leaves and branches and pods/plant and seed index were not affected. The interaction between P2O5 and foliar spray with micronutrients did not affect the growth and yield parameters. Increasing P2O5 significantly increased the total uptake of N, P and K by seeds as well as micronutrients in herbage and seeds. Foliar spray with micronutrients did not affect the total uptake of N, P and K by seeds and increased the sprayed elements in plant organs. Fetrilon combi decreased the micronutrients content in seeds when compared with the other foliar treatments or the control. The interactions between P2O5 and foliar spray with micronutrients had not any significant effect on macronutrients in seeds but they significantly affected all the micronutrients in herbage and seeds. The highest micronutrients values in herbage were attained by adding 33.0 kg P2O5/Fed. and foliar application of Fe-chelate.
