Hemiptera attacking acacia dealbata acacia decurrens acacia longifolia acacia mearnsii and acacia melanoxylon in australia

Hemiptera attacking acacia dealbata acacia decurrens acacia longifolia acacia mearnsii and acacia melanoxylon in australia

Phytophylactica 14(2): 47-50

The adults and/or nymphs of 18 hemipterous species were found feeding on A. dealbata, 13 on A. decurrens, 24 on A. longifolia, 20 on A. mearnsii and 6 on A. melanoxylon. The membracid Sextius depressus Goding feeds on all 5 wattles and 3 spp. fed on 4 of the wattle species. A Psylla sp. that feeds on developing seed pods of A. decurrens, and an undescribed mirid feeding on young seed pods and developing seeds of A. dealbata seem the most promising for the biocontrol of these wattles in South Africa.
