Heterosis in some intercultivar wheat hybrids

Six basic elements of productivity were biometrically analyzed and results obtained indicate that the inheritance of quantitative characters in intercultivar wheat hybrids is dominant (fully or partially). The heterosis observed in the hybrids studied was due to overdominance. Higher values of the biometrically analyzed quantitative characters were observed in hybrid plants of the crosses Youbilei .times. Norin 44 and Youbilei .times. Mexipak. Compared to cv. Sadovo, cv. Youbilei had higher combining ability in these ecologically distant crosses.
