Historical background to suggestibility how interrogative suggestibility differs from other types of suggestibility

Historical background to suggestibility how interrogative suggestibility differs from other types of suggestibility

Personality & Individual Differences 8(3): 347-356

This paper reviews the literature on suggestibility and it is argued that 'interrogative suggestibility' bears little resemblance to traditional types of suggestibility and requires a separate model of understanding. The dinstinguishing feature of interrogative suggestibility are: (i) it involves a questioning procedure within a close a social interaction; (ii) the questions are mainly concerned with past experiences and events, and (iii) it had a strong 'uncertainty' component related to cognitive functioning.
