Immunization of pigs against the cysticercus of taenia solium using fractionated first and second peaks of cysticercus cellulosae scolex antigen

Immunization of pigs against the cysticercus of taenia solium using fractionated first and second peaks of cysticercus cellulosae scolex antigen

Indian Journal of Animal Sciences 57(9): 932-935

Clean piglets, 15 days old, were immunized with Sephadex G-200 fractionated first and second peaks of C. cellulosae scolex antigen. The clinical, humoral and parasitic responses in these animals were studied at 4 and 12 weeks post-challenge infection with 15,000 infective eggs of T. solium. The highest antibody titres and maximum protection were recorded in the piglets immunized with first peak antigen. There was marked reduction in the number of cysticerci in the animals of immunized group.
