Immunological analysis of specific glyco protein gp 55 in cells transformed by the friend strain of spleen focus forming virus

An antiserum was prepared in the goat by the immunization with mouse FVTCT cells (cells infected with Friend's virus, tissue culture and transplantable tumor). The cells were an established mouse cell line after infection with Friend leukemia virus. The serum obtained was analyzed by immunochemical methods and the following results were noted. The goat immune serum reacted with gp 70 which was a main glycoprotein of Friend murine leukemia virus, and with gp 55 which was a specific glycoprotien encoded by the viral onc-gene in the transformed cells, respectively. The reactivity of the immune serum with gp 70 and gp 55 suggested that these 2 antigens shared a common determinant. Most of the gp 55 antigen was found at the perinuclear portion and a little was found on the surface of FVTCT cells.
