Influence of ramulosis on fiber characteristics and yield of cotton gossypium hirsutum f latifolium

A study to determine the influence of ramulosis caused by Colletotrichum gossypii var. cephalosporioides A. S. Costa on yield and fiber characteristics of 7 cultivars of G. hirsutum L. f. latifolium Hutch was carried out in 1981 and 1982. Based on the 1982 results, where a higher infection was obtained, the following characteristics were affected: yield (seed cotton), lint percent, fiber length, uniformity, fineness, boll wt and seed index. 'Reba B 50' and 'IAC 17' were the least and the most tolerant, respectively, to the pathogen. There was a statistical difference at 5% level between these cultivars, but not between these and the others, for seed cotton yield characteristic.
