Influence of rhizobium on dry matter organic matter digestible organic matter and protein content in the genus vicia associated with avena sativa

Influence of rhizobium on dry matter organic matter digestible organic matter and protein content in the genus vicia associated with avena sativa

Revue d'Ecologie et de Biologie du Sol 15(2): 205-218

In poor sandy soils of granite origin in the dry region of Hinojosa del Duque (South Spain) the response to Rhizobium of several cultivars of Vicia [V. sativa and V. villosa] associated with A. sativa was studied. All the treatments received the same fertilization. Parcels (13) were fertilized with 3 kg of borax/ha. The inoculated treatments exceeded the non-inoculated in 850 kg of DM(dry matter)/ha. Significant differences were noted in OM (organic matter), DOM (digestible organic matter) and CP (protein content) per ha between the above treatments. Borax in the quantity used depressed production of DM, OM, DOM and CP. A possible negative interaction in the physiological mechanism of the plant with small alteration of its metabolism was suggested as the cause. Positive responses were caused exclusively by inoculation.
