Inheritance of some productivity characters in intercultivar hybrids of brewing barley

Inheritance of some productivity characters in intercultivar hybrids of brewing barley

Genetika i Selektsiya 18(2): 111-116

The inheritance of grains per spike and 1000 grain weight in the cross Sofia 3 .times. Beta cetsoros is of an overdominant type. Higher degree and frequency of segregation, due to transgression in F2 was observed for number of grains per spike. The cultivar used as the female parent had an effect not only on the inheritance of grains per spike, but also on the inheritance of grain weight per spike. Higher coefficients of variability in a broad sense were observed for number of grains per spike 1000 grain weight and lower for grain weight per spike. The values found reveal the existing possibilities of greater effectiveness in selection for number of grains per spike and 1000 grain weight.
