Labeling of nitrogen 13 labeled adenosine and nicotinamide by ammonolysis

International Journal of Applied Radiation & Isotopes 36(5): 345-348

The labeling of adenosine and nicotinamide with 13N, a short-lived positron emitter, was tried by ammonolysis of 6-halogenated ribofuranosylpurine and nicotinic acid chloride in aqueous 13N ammonia solution. From examination of the labeling condition, it was found that adenosine and nicotinamide could be labeled with 13N in an amino or amide group by a short-time reaction. The radiochemical yields were .apprx. 20% for adenosine and 28% for nicotinamide. The labeling was possible in a non-carrier-added state.
