Labeling of several compounds with 5 technetium 99m by electrolytic method

Labeling of organic compounds with Tc-99m required the reduction of TcO4- to lower valence state. Most commonly used reductor is Sn(II) in the form of SnCl2 aqueous solution. Commercial SnCl2 contains about 5% of Sn(IV), and the concentration of Sn(IV) will increase due to air oxidation on standing. This increase is leading to the decrease in its reduction potential which depends on Sn(IV)/Sn(II) ratio. Sn2+ can be generated from anodic oxidation of tin wire by electrolysis. By this method, Sn content in the solution can be controlled and minimized. The optimum condition of TcO4- reduction and labeling of several compounds by electrolysis. The reduction efficiency of TcO4-, labeling efficiency and radiochemical purity by paper chromatographic method was also determined . High reduction efficiency, labeling efficiency, radio-chemical purity and high stability of the labeled compounds can be rapidly obtained by this electrolytic method.
