Labile dna and rna content in mesophyll cells of wheat leaves infected with puccinia graminis f sp tritici

Labile dna and rna content in mesophyll cells of wheat leaves infected with puccinia graminis f sp tritici

Mikologiya i Fitopatologiya 16(2): 122-125

Labile DNA content in nuclei and RNA content in the cytoplasm of cells in contact with infection structures were compared with those in cells in the infected area of the leaf but not interacting directly with the fungus. The activation of certain genes in nuclei of infected host cells, which caused the synthesis of metabolic products necessary for pathogen development and reproduction, was primary in the infection process.
