Laboratory and field studies on the efficacy of selected chemical insecticide elcar baculovirus heliothis combinations against heliothis spp

Permethrin, methomyl and EPN-methyl parathion were combined with Elcar (Baculovirus heliothis) in laboratory and field studies. No significant differences were detected between observed and expected mortality of H. zea (Boddie) larvae [a cotton pest] in the laboratory, although slight increases in mortality were observed in some tests. In a small plot test on cotton, reduced rates (0.125, 0.25 and 0.5X the recommended rate) of permethrin, methomyl and EPN-methyl parathion were combined with a recommended rate of Elcar. Permethrin-Elcar and methomyl-Elcar plots produced yields equal to those treated with Elcar alone, while Epn-methyl parathion plots had reduced yields.
