Laboratory assessment of the toxicity of field weathered residues of some insecticides to the grubs of hypera variabilis on lucerne

Laboratory assessment of the toxicity of field weathered residues of some insecticides to the grubs of hypera variabilis on lucerne

Pesticides 18(7): 25-27

The persistent toxicity of 12 insecticides sprayed on lucerne were tested against final instar grubs of H. variabilis. Monocrotophos, endosulfan and malathion were observed to persist for a longer period as compared to other insecticides. Fenvalerate and methamidophos were next in the order of persistency. Phoxim gave good initial kill but lost its effect very rapidly. Formothion, phosalone, phosphamidon, leptophos, methytdemeton and dimethoate were relatively less effective. The toxicity of even most persistent insecticides was reduced to half within a week.
