Laboratory calibration tests of ground spraying techniques in egypt

Laboratory calibration tests were carried out in order to evaluate 5 spraying techniques i.e. ULVA [ultralow volume] atomizer, pheumatic sprayer Blowmic, Retaining knapsack sprayer, Spray Gun of Motor sprayer and experimental Portable Spray Boom. Main spray parameters were performed, i.e., flow rate, spray pattern and droplet size. A positive relationship is achieved between the operating pressure and flow rate produced by hydraulic nozzles. The influence of pressure on the uniformity of spray pattern distribution produced by cone spray tips of Retaining Knapsack sprayer and Portable Spray Boom were regular and proportional and differed greatly with the change of spray height. The distribution pattern of the disc-core nozzle (D2-13) showed a marked tendency to improve with increasing spray height. Perfect distribution of swath pattern was produced by disc-core nozzle (D2-13) while the worst was obtained with the use of Spray Gun of Motor sprayer. Both of the tested rotary and pneumatic atomizers produced a rich number of fine droplets. With hydraulic nozzles the increase of operating pressure and spray height caused a decrease of droplet diameter (VMD) accompanied by an increase in the number of droplets (N/cm2).
