Laboratory cultivation of pleurotus ostreatus using elm ulmus sp and poplar populus sp sawdusts

Biologia (Lahore) 30(2): 245-256

Growth of P. ostreatus (Jacquin ex Fr) on elm (Ullmus sp) and poplar (Populus sp.) sawdust media is compared. Growth on elm sawdust was generally superior to that on poplar. Other factors conductive to fruiting were the use of nonsterile soil casing during cultivation and adequate ventilation. Unilateral light induced positive phototropic curvature of developing fruits. Negative geotropism of the stripe was demonstrated.
