Laboratory evaluation of benomyl against some plant pathogenic fungi

Laboratory evaluation of benomyl against some plant pathogenic fungi

Indian Phytopathology 28(1): 76-79

Fungitoxicity of benomyl was evaluated against 21 fungi in the laboratory. The fungicide was highly toxic to Rhizoctonia solani, R. bataticola, Colletotrichum falcatum, Cladosporium cladosporioides, C. oxysporum, Elsinoe ampelina, Pestalotia theae, Phoma destructiva and Aspergillus flavus. Among the 3 methods used for evaluation of benomyl, the trend of results obtained in growth inhibition and spore germination inhibition was not similar. Results were comparable when growth inhibition was tested either in liquid or semi-solid media. The germination of spores of Curvularia lunata and Drechslera sorokiniana was stimulated by different concentrations of benomyl.
