Laboratory germination and growth rate as indicators of cereal sowing rates

In 1976-1980 the experiments with barley seeds of Moscowsky 121 cultivar and winter wheat Mironovskaya 808 in genetic selection laboratory of the Timirjazev Academy were conducted. The possibility of usage of growth vigor for the estimation of rates of sowing cereals was studied. The rates of barley sowings could be estimated according to the growth vigor (GOST). This indicator allows substantial reduction in variability of relative field germination and helps to attain desired density of plant stands with sowing seeds from different stocks.
