Long term intra arterial chemotherapy using an implantable infusion pump before the radiosurgical treatment of cervical cancer a pilot study

Long term intra arterial chemotherapy using an implantable infusion pump before the radiosurgical treatment of cervical cancer a pilot study

Rays (Rome) 9(3): 141-150

The prognosis of advanced carcinoma of the cervix is poor. The 5-yr survival for patients treated with radiotherapy, with or without surgery is .apprx. 50% for stage IIB, 30% for stage III and only 7% for stage IV. The goal of study is the evaluation of the role of intraarterial chemotherapy before radiotherapy, in advanced cervix carcinoma, using a subcutaneous pump for infusion of antiblastic drugs through 2 catheters inserted in the hypogastric arteries.
