Microcirculatory bed changes in the mucous membrane of the human nasal cavity in pathology of respiratory tracts

In elderly and senile patients, changes of atrophic, sclerotic and, in some cases, hypertrophic character were observed in nasal mucous membranes. In arterioles, sclerosis and hyalinosis with wall thickenings and lumen narrowing were marked. In the nasal mucous membrane, age aggravations of microcirculatory blood supply were marked that at the same time depended in a significant rate on the type of pathology of the respiratory tracts.
