Four meristic and nineteen morphometric characters were examined in two collections of roach, Rutilus rutilus (Linnaeus, 1758). One sample originated from the Baltic Sea basin, the other from the River Aldan, a tributary to the River Lena, Artctic Ocean basin. The application of Student's test revealed several significant differences, but subspecific deviations in Siberian roach, R. rutilus lacustris (Pallas, 1811), were not evidenced (Mayr's coefficient of difference, method of principal components).
