Abstract
Male sterility induced by mutagen treatment in S. orientale L. was monogenic recessive. Two varieties and their hybrid were subjected to .gamma.-rays and ethylmethane sulfonate (EMS), and male sterile plants were noticed in the M2 [2nd mutant generation].
