Chaetomium spp. Stachybotrys atra, Melanospora zamiae are specific fungi of decaying tissue of tomato colonized by wilt pathogens. The early presence of the first 2 fungi in the plant could efficiently stop the saprophytic development of Verticillium dahliae. Melanospora, which is constantly associated with the Fusarium wilt fungi, seems to follow a vascular route.
