Natural mortality factors of hynobius keyserlingii dyb

Exsiccation of reservoirs is the main factor of mortality of Hynobius keyserlingii eggs and larvae. When a reservoir exsiccates, a part of eggs perishes due to overheating, increasing of organic compound concentrations in water, and impoverishing water by oxygen, as well as due to the growth of the density of predatory invertebrates population. During the process of embryogenesis the mortality increases. Predators and exsiccation are, apparently, the main factors of mortality during the postmetamorphosis period of life. Nature of predation of different invertebrate species on Hynobius keyserlingii eggs and larvae is discussed. Information about abnormalities in egg development and about parasites of adult specimens is presented. A review of literature data concerning factors of Hynobius keyserlingii mortality is given.
