Note on the effect of some new insecticides on the different instars of spodoptera littoralis the leafworm of cotton with special reference to their residual effect

The efficacy of 23 insecticides or insecticidal combinations were tested against 2nd, 3rd and 4th instar larvae of S. littoralis. All tests were conducted in experimental cotton fields in Egypt. Cyolane, Cytrolane, Cyolane/Cytrolane, Cyolane/endrin, Tamaron, Monitor and EF 2910 were most effect against all instars. Equally effective against 2nd and 3rd instars were methomyl, Dalton, leptophos, FD 5228, chlorpyrifos and endrin/Bidrin. Residual effectiveness of the compounds were also tested.
