Observations on the cyto taxonomy of the species vicia incana and vicia tenuifolia in slovakian locations czechoslovakia

Observations on the cyto taxonomy of the species vicia incana and vicia tenuifolia in slovakian locations czechoslovakia

Acta Facultatis Rerum Naturalium Universitatis Comenianae Botanica 27: 137-150

V. incana Gouan and V. tenuifolia Roth are closely related species of the subgenus Cracca (Medik.) Gams of the section Cracca (Medik.) S.F. Gray. Their separation is discussed. Based on flower morphology and components, V. incana is more closely related to V. kitaibeliana (2n = 14) and V. cracca (2n = 28) than to V. tenuifolia. As to comparative morphology of the chromosomes, the previously mentioned relationships seem incorrect. V. incana and V. tenuifolia belong in the group with the fundamental chromosome number x = 6, but with different multiples. V. incana has the somatic chromosome number of 2n = 12, while V. tenuifolia has 2n = 24.
