An analysis was made of sister chromatid exchanges (SCE) along the metaphase chromosomes of A. cepa meristematic cells. SCE apparently did not occur randomly, but preferentially, in chromosome regions corresponding to euchromatin and at euchromatin.sbd.C band junctions.
