The fossils are identified as bones of an elephant, a mandible and a vertebra of Cervus sp., a coracoid of cormorant, Phalacrocorax sp. and carapaces and bones of a pond turtle. The elephant is possibly Palaeoloxodon naumanni (Makiyama). The geological studies were carried out for the bed which yielded many fossil bones, and the results suggested that the bed is correlative with a part of the early Late Pleistocene Shimosueyoshi Formation. This consideration is supported by the lithological similarity and the unconformable relation between this bed and the underlying Naganuma Formation.
