On the exterminatory measures for habu in amami district japan the problems from a ecological point of view

Snake 10(1): 90

Ecological studies of habu [Trimeresurus sp.] were emphasized for epidemiology as well as for control. Removal is the only known method applicable to the habu for the estimation of population density. Some modification is necessary for the application of the method to obtain a meaningful estimate of the population size of habu in the Amami islands [Japan]. The study of the population dynamics of habu based on existing data and some hypothetical parameters would be useful for determination of the strategy of habu control.
