Onosma kaheirei new species and onosma erectum boraginaceae from greece

Onosma kaheirei new species and onosma erectum boraginaceae from greece

Phyton (Horn) 28(1): 115-131

Two asterotrichous Onosma species with cushion-forming growth habit are treated. Apparent characteristics of O. kaheirei TEPPNER, spec. nova, are: dense, largely patent indumentum, bracts (the lowermost ones excepted) shorter than calyx, corolla lemonyellow and puberulent. The species grows on mountains in Euboea, Attica and Achaia. Two populations investigated karyologically show 2n = 38 and 2n = 50 chromosomes respectively. O. erectum SIBTH and SM. has an indumentum more or less appressed, the bracts exceed calyx and the colour of corolla is dark yellow. O.e. subsp. erectum with 2n = 14 chromosomes has glabrous corolla tubes and was found in Euboea, Attica, Peloponnesos, Samos and Crete. O. e. subsp. malickyi, subsp. nova, with 2n = 26 chromosomes almost has puberulent corollas and occurs in Peloponnisos.
