Onto morphogenesis of some herbaceous paeonia species part 2 paeonia lactiflora and paeonia obovata

These Paeonia species are tuberous herbaceous polycarpics; P. lactiflora is tapracemoseradical [tap-fibrous-rooted] and P. obovata is racemoseradical [fibrous-rooted]. Tubers are formed as a result of adventitious root thickening and storage tissue is parenchymatous secondary xylem. Main shoot growth is monopodial for 2-3 yr and sympodial after 4 yr. Monocarpic shoots are monocyclic and long. The short rhizomes have a hypogeogenous origin. Axial organ vessel members have scalariform preforation plates. Leaves are mesomorphic and shaded.
