Abstract
Lipid membranes in chloroplasts and bacterial chromophores are involved in the conversion of light and chemical energy into an electrochemical potential. The response to normal and pulsed light was studied with black lipid membranes. The effect of pigments on the photochemical response was studied with liposomes.
