Plasmodium knowlesi enzyme typing in agarose electrophoresis

Plasmodium knowlesi enzyme typing in agarose electrophoresis

Journal of Communicable Diseases 16(2): 126-130

Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), glucose phosphate isomerase (GPI), adenosine deaminase (ADA) G-6-P (G6PD), 6-Phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (6GPD) and phosphoglucomutase (PGM) were studied for their isoenzyme variation in a comparative study of normal monkey blood (NMB) saponized and P. knowlesi (PK) free parasite, using 2 different buffer systems. Three isoenzymes (LDH, GPI and ADA) out of the 6 isozymes were resolved. Differences in number of bands and intensity of these 3 isoenzymes were observed.
