Platelet aggregation and mononuclear cells

Platelet aggregation and mononuclear cells

Medizinische Welt 36(40): 1265-1267

The effect of non-stimulated mononuclear cells and zymosanactivated serum-stimulated mononuclear cells on platelets was studied. Mononuclear cells stimulated the platelets to aggregation and release-reaction. The mediator substance is the platelet activating factor (PAF) formed by the monocytes. The phenomenon of platelet refractoriness observed in connection with PAF- and ADP-induced aggregation was also discussed.
