Pollen morphology and plant taxonomy of selagineae scrophulariaceae

Alpha taxonomy considered the African tribe Selagineae as belonging to the family Scrophulariaceae but some authors treated the tribe at the rank of a family, the Selaginaceae. Palynological characters revealed its stenopalynous nature and recorded features distinct from Scrophulariaceae, suggesting its segregation and elevation to a family status, the Selaginaceae.
