Post parturitional changes in the fallopian tube cervix vagina and vulva of buffalo cows

Gross, histological and histochemical observations were made in the fallopian tubes, cervix, vagina and vulva of post-partum buffalo cows. In all the organs, in general, there was an increase in the epithelial height, edema and congestion of the lamina propria and tunica muscularis on the day of parturition and at estrus, but there was a marked reduction at interim post-partum intervals. The PAS [periodic acid-Schiff reagent] reaction in the fallopian tube on the luminal border of epithelial cells was slight on 0 day and intense on 60th day (estrus). In the cervix, PAS-positive material on 0 day was intense, but at later intervals it reduced markedly showing a rise only on the day of estrus. PAS reaction in vagina was slight on 0 day and marked on the day of estrus. However in vulva PAS-positive material was observed only on the luminal border on 0 and 60 day (estrus) post-partum.
