Post training activity of creatinine kinase in the sera of miniature piglets after the application of vitamin e and selenium

The studies were performed on 20 miniature boars in four experimental groups: 1st group - control animals, 2nd group - animals fed vitamin E at a dose of 19 mg/kg three days before the beginning of the experiment, 3rd group - animals fed vitamin E at a dose of 19 mg/kg and sodium selenate at a dose of 3.65 mg/animals 8 days before the experiment and group 4 - animals fed sodium selenate at the term a dose 3.65 mg/animal. Then the animals were physically forced for 2 hr (the effort amounted 2.4 km walk). The activity of creatine kinase (CPK) was estimated by the method of Hacker et al. in blood obtained from the jugular vein after 0, 2 and 24 h after training. It was found that after 2 hr training and after 24 h since the end of training the highest activity of CPK was noted in control animals. In the remaining groups of animals the value of CPK was lowered, and the lowest values were found in group given sodium selenate. The increased activity of CPK due to training was the most effectively regulated by vitamin E applied together with sodium selenate.
