Precoccinelline and related alkaloids in the australian soldier beetle chauliognathus pulchellus coleoptera cantharidae

Precoccinelline and related alkaloids in the australian soldier beetle chauliognathus pulchellus coleoptera cantharidae

Insect Biochemistry 8(5): 393-395

The alkaloids precoccinelline, hippodamine and propyleine, previously known only from Coccinellidae, were identified as components of the defensive secretion of C. pulchellus. This secretion also contains (Z)-8-dihydromatricaria acid, already reported from another species of the genus [C. lecontei].
