Preliminary study on the quaternary calcareous nanno fossils of beijing plain china

A calcareous nannofossil assemblage was reported which appears to be the 1st discovery of a Quaternary calcareous nannofossils in China and comprises 8 spp. [Coccolithus pelagicus (Wallich) Schiller, Cyclococcolithus leptoporus (Murray and Blackman) Kamptner, Cricolithus sp., Gephyrocapsa oceanica Kamptner, G. protohuxleyi McIntyre, Emiliania huxleyi (Lohmann) Hay and Mohler, Pseudoemiliania lacunosa (Kamptner) Gartner and Syracosphaera sp.]. Some problems on the stratigraphy, palaeogeography and palaeoclimatology are discussed. The lower limit of the Matuyama Epoch is presumed to be the lower boundary of the Quaternary. The described assemblage is assigned to the ancient subarctic bioprovince.
