Preparation of iodine 125 labeled 5' iodo delta 8 tetra hydro cannabinol a radio ligand for the radio immunoassay of cannabinoids

, : Preparation of iodine 125 labeled 5' iodo delta 8 tetra hydro cannabinol a radio ligand for the radio immunoassay of cannabinoids. Journal of Labelled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals 17(5): 681-690

Nucleophilic exchange of 5'-iodo-.DELTA.8-THC (5'-iodo-.DELTA.8-tetrahydrocannabinol) and sodium iodide-125 afforded 5'-iodo-125I-.DELTA.8-THC with a maximum specific activity of 42 Ci/mmol. The specific activity could be increased to at least 100 Ci/mmol by iodide-125 displacement of the corresponding 5'-tosylate. A hapten 5'-carboxy-14C-.DELTA.9-THC, for use in conjunction with this radioligand, was synthesized from 5'-bromo-.DELTA.8-THC.
